April: Product News, Events & Collabs

collaboration local love marketing new product store news

Spring has finally sprung and we're off to a busy start! We are shedding our winter layers and prepping for outdoor play, hiking, and drinking in that earthy Spring vibe. Updates for the month of April below!

Online Shop Updates

Hats - Our popular classic snapbacks just got an upgrade! All of our hats now feature an additional custom Kootz Rootz label on the inside brim (just like our Kootenay legend snapbacks).

We also have a new colour! Let's welcome maroon and steel grey to the classic family. We are pumped about this new shade! And good news, moss and khaki hats are finally back in stock!

Stickers - We've restocked our sticker supply so don't forget to pick one up for your next roadtrip or add some Kootenay flair to your bike or board for Spring - only $4.50!

Apparel Restock - We will be restocking our apparel very soon! Thank you all for your patience as we work to get additional sizes in our popular styles. Oh, and did we mention, we have some NEW styles hitting the shop soon! Sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know when they drop and get in on special deals!

We had the pleasure of working with William Tell Family Estate in Creston over the winter to produce some fun apparel. We featured Will Tell in a blog post last summer - they make amazing sparkling ciders, drinking vinegars and other tasty products, all from their orchards. Naturally, Straight Outta The Orchard was a pretty fitting theme! If you don't think being a farmer is gangster, well, then you don't know much about the job! If you'd like a shirt, you can contact William Tell or find them at the next Creston Farmers Market! We also designed hats for them that we will feature next month.

Motherwise Project (mental health support groups for new Mom's that run in Castlegar, Nelson, Trail and Grand Forks) will be taking place at the Castlegar Community Complex on April 21st. It's by-donation drop-in yoga and participants will have their names entered to win prizes!

Kootz Rootz is thrilled to be donating some awesome door prize goodies to this event. As mothers ourselves, we couldn't think of a better cause to get behind. See further event details here.

Kootz Rootz "in the news"

We've had some unexpected televised footage of our brand in the last couple of months! At the start of 2018, the Rick Mercer Report did a segment at the University of Victoria. Our cousin attends the school and when he heard Rick was in town, he headed out to the courtyard to join the massive group of students to take part in the taping. Lucky for us, he not only wore his Kootz Rootz shirt that day, but he managed to weave his way through the crowd and stand directly behind Rick on live TV. We are kiiiiinda stoked that our brand even got a foot away from the amazing Mr. Mercer because we are big fans!

This month, Calgary "Plogger", Heidi Sinclair, was interviewed by the CBC about plogging... while wearing her Kootz Rootz hat! What is plogging? It's the combination of jogging and picking up garbage. It's an activity that's been trending and there are plogging groups popping up all over the world. The combination of healthy living and environmental awareness is something we absolutely condone. Thanks to Heidi for introducing us to the art of plogging and for sporting our hat while getting active in Alberta! You can visit her plogging page on Instagram @ploggingyyc
