Happy Hour + Good Cheer Here

collaboration local love recipe

We've teamed up with Bohemian Spirits in Kimberley to create some yummy Kootenay-themed cocktails and a couple of awesome giveaways. Kootz Rootz is The Original Happy Hour Brand so we felt it only natural to sample from the company that tags themselves as Good Cheer Here! We're entering into the season where celebratory libations are more frequent so we decided to kick November off with the caesar, it was invented in Canada after all!

The caesar is definitely a year-round drink for team Kootz Rootz, most often enjoyed at the campfire, or during a game of redneck golf. We would also highly recommend a hearty caesar for fishing. Beer's a popular choice, but when you're casting a bobber from the rocks on Kootenay Lake, like we do, we like to bide our time with a drink that's practically a meal too. For casual fisher people such as ourselves, half the fun of fishing isn't always catching the fish!

Not only are we big caesar fans, but we're that rare breed of folk who often prefer a gin caesar to the more common vodka caesar. If that sounds like you, we have the perfect locally sourced cocktail for you! (And if your team vodka, that's OK! Just switch gin for vodka in the recipe below - we recommend this one). Our recipe features Bohemian Spirits Limited Gin - the botanicals in this wild little number include juniper, fir tips, rose-hip, cottonwood, Oregon-grape and huckleberry. All hand-harvested in the Rocky Mountains!* Accompanied by a selection of local garnishes, this baby is bold and brash. An ode to that adventurous Kootenay life!

Our recipe features local enhancements from The Pepper People in Boswell (East Shore Kootenay Lake), and Famous Fritz in Creston. Local always tastes better!

Check out the recipe below to mix your own Kootenay-themed caesar.
