Our Rootz : Trail / Wynndel / Creston

about us

Our Rootz : Trail / Wynndel / Creston

Kootz Collective started for us in 2013, at least, in a business-type sense. However, we were born and raised in the Kootenays so the area is quite literally our roots. In fact, both sides of our families have well documented histories on settling in the area. We were born and raised in Trail, and also spent half our lives in Creston, at our summer home on Kootenay Lake. We were raised to appreciate the outdoors: climbing the mountain right out our front door in Trail, skiing Red in Rossland, fishing and boating on Kootenay Lake, and fruit picking in Creston. Happy Hour + Good Cheer Here

Happy Hour + Good Cheer Here

We've teamed up with Bohemian Spirits in Kimberley to create some yummy Kootenay-themed cocktails and a couple of awesome giveaways. Kootz Rootz is The Original Happy Hour Brand so we felt it only natural to sample from the company that tags themselves as Good Cheer Here! We're entering into the season where celebratory libations are more frequent so we decided to kick November off with the caesar, it was invented in Canada after all!    The caesar is definitely a year-round drink for team Kootz Rootz, most often enjoyed at the campfire, or during a game of redneck golf. We would also highly recommend a hearty caesar for fishing....

Day Trippin' - Kootenay National Park Edition

The Mountains Were Calling: There's a chill in the air and the white stuff has touched down in the Kootenays. Here's to hiking peaks to the snow line, prepping our gear for the hills, and chillin' in wool socks. We recently celebrated the seasonal change with the launch of new apparel and an awesome day spent in Kootenay National Park.     We shot our latest collection of shirts at Vermillion Crossing/Verdant Creek with our talented photographer Justine Maguire. We spent the day taking in Rocky mountain views, admiring nature's mix of snow and Autumn foliage, drinking all the coffee to stay warm, and having a blast with our...

Kootz Rootz Booze Cruise

Kootz Rootz Booze Cruise

OK, it's not exactly what you think! We were not on a booze cruise per se. Kootz Rootz recently met up with two local Kootenay businesses to talk collaboration - our favourite word! We had the pleasure of meeting Wade and Dave, two fellow entrepreneurs who are rocking the alcoholic beverage world in the Kootenays. Wade is the owner of Bohemian Spirits. His distillery focuses on gin (they currently offer 3 varieties), as well as a vodka and a fine coffee liquer. Their limited gin features botanicals right from their own backyard in beautiful Kimberley. Bohemian Spirits uses the tagline Good Cheer...
