Falling for Autumn in the Kootenays

Is it Autumn? It is in the Kootenays! I (Kelsey) recently spent a week in Creston and the East Shore Kootenay Lake. I arrived to a fresh cut lawn that morning, the petunias still looking fabulous, the yellow larches popping off the mountain sides, the ombre maple trees shimmering and pink sunsets in the evening. In many places people complain that Fall is too short, but in the Kootenays, you really get a good dose of it.   We spent most of our time taking in the changing landscape with nature walks, playing at the beach, fishing and cozy campfires. No fish to...

The June Round-up

Wow, June has been an exciting month around here so far. We had our first workshop and first market of the year! We thought we would provide a re-cap on both events as well as throw in some local lovin' in between. If you'd like to settle in for a run through of our "workin' Moms weekend" between Creston and Cranbrook, we've got the goods here.  Workshop - Creston, BC Did you know that we host workshops in the Kootenays and Calgary for small business owners and entrepreneurs? Fall in the Kootz

FALL 2018 PHOTO DIARYNo pumpkin spice lattes were harmed in the creation of this blog post. Fall is definitely our favourite season. When the leaves start to change and the snow starts drifting down the mountain peaks, it’s absolute eye candy. We spent Thanksgiving on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake with our family and a nice stretch of glorious weather. Crisp, misty mornings and clear, sunny skies in the afternoon - the perfect autumn vibes. Hiking and beach-combing were on our radar as well as campfires and cocktails. We’re pretty predictable at this point, aren’t we? We also thoroughly enjoyed our Mom’s...

A Boo-tiful Visit with a Big-Ass Bear

If you follow us on social media you'll have seen that half of team Kootz (Leah) spent the Canada Day long weekend in Golden, BC. If you're not familiar with Boo, he's a Grizzly bear that lives halfway up Kicking Horse Mountain. Our trip to Golden was a family event. With 2 energetic toddlers in tow, you can imagine that the excitement level to see a huge bear up close was pretty high. And Boo, he did not disappoint. Smarter than the average bear? Quite possibly Yogi, quite possibly! We headed up the resort hill on Canada Day morning. The clouds were...
